VITAMINS – SEAFOOD – EATING VEGETABLES AND FRUIT AT THE SAME MEAL (INTRODUCTION)

‘There has been much talk lately about modern diets, with many lectures being given on the subject. My daughter and I went to an interesting one given by Dr Bircher. The speaker made the point that, before every meal, fruit and raw vegetables or a salad should be eaten. So my whole family started a regime of eating an apple before our meals. The result? My goitre scar from an operation eleven years ago was dreadfully painful for three or four days and a small swelling developed. Then the pain diminished, although it did not disappear entirely. I should also tell you that on the evening of the lecture, I hurried a little and for the first time in my life I was conscious of my heart beating rather rapidly and ever since I have felt sick almost every day. We have now stopped eating an apple before our meals, for it seemed to give us flatulence as well.’
